With SA inflation rising above 6%, workers at Eskom (South Africa’s electricity supplier) took up strike action demanding wage increases of up to 15%. This strike action impacted operations for at least six power stations, and the resulting loss in power has forced South Africa into stage six loadshedding for the first time since December 2019. Under stage six, South African’s will find themselves without power for approximately six hours a day.
