The African Wild Dog (Lycaon pictus) has one of the highest hunting success rates of any carnivore at 80%. For comparison, southern African big cats’ success rate is around 20%-30%. To initiate a possible hunt a dominant individual in the pack will ‘sneeze’ and if enough dogs ‘sneeze’ back it is likely the hunt will begin.
