AIDS facts for 2006
In 2006: It is estimated that about 220,000 people with AIDS will be treated with antiretrovirals (medicines that help most people with HIV live much longer and healthier lives) while 500,000 people who need antiretrovirals will remain untreated. About 60,000 babies will contract HIV, and about 350,000 people will die of AIDS. (ASSA 2003 model)
