Last week marked the passing of Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins. He spent nearly 200 hours (22 of them alone, while his crewmates walked on the lunar surface) in the Command Service Module Columbia during the spaceflight to the moon and back in July of 1969 . The average smartphone has nearly a million times as much RAM as the Command Module’s Guidance Computer. That computer’s ~4 KB of memory could only store roughly two weeks worth of facts from Eighty20’s Fact a Day.
