Astronomic Detail
The James Webb Telescope is performing around ten times better than expected. This is allowing astronomers to image smaller celestial objects, with more precise measurements, potentially allowing us to learn far more about their atmospheres. As an example, researchers were able to learn more about the exoplanet HIP 65426b. First, it is hotter than previously thought, with some regions reaching 1,400° C. Second, while its diameter is only about 92% that of Jupiter, it is about seven times heavier.
