The Bent Pyramid outside Cairo is interesting as it shows how the ancient Egyptian architects tested building techniques for a new, steeper type of pyramid. The bottom of the pyramid has sides at an angle of 54 degrees, but it appears that when cracks started developing during construction, the architects were forced to change their design and continue at a shallower angle.
