Beyond the veil
The Ahaggaren Tuaregs are a nomadic North African Muslim tribe, estimated to have a population of 33,700 individuals. In direct contrast to Arab and Muslim custom, the Tuareg men wear veils, rather than women. As a sign of deference, Tuareg men always cover their mouths, noses and foreheads in the presence of their in-laws and foreigners. They only remove their veils in family camps or while travelling. (https://bit.ly/2M5YStg, https://bit.ly/3eq61k0, https://bit.ly/2BbaMzH) #AfricaMonth
