   It is difficult to comment which strategy is best. It depends on what the specific company wants to achieve with their promotion eg volume, profit, increasing the sale of complementary products etc etc etc.

   OK … I think the important FACT is that the cost of living in RSA was a lot lower than the UK same years ago (the good old days). This is no long true and “why”??? Probably because there are just too many taxes?? Someone bodies need very BIG salaries and the consumer can pay-up!!.

   So taking 3 cokes at the price of 2 works out at R12.83 per bottle only 5% cheaper than SA. If the exchange rate moves in a weeks time to R11.34 there will be no difference in price per bottle. So I conclude we pay the same for a coke in SA or UK. Great.
