Causes of death
According to the World Health Organisation, the leading cause of death globally in 2000 was Ischaemic heart disease which accounted for 13.4% of total deaths. This remained unchanged in 2016. Meanwhile, Africa’s leading cause of death was HIV/AIDS in 2000 (12.2% of total deaths). This statistic improved when HIV/AIDS moved to second position in 2016 (8.1% of total deaths) and was overtaken by lower respiratory infections in 2016 (10.4% of total deaths). (http://bit.ly/2wuaSwt)
