In 2020Q2 the number of employed South Africans dropped by 2.2m. Surprisingly, because looking for work is a requirement to be classified as unemployed, the number of unemployed individuals also dropped by 2.8m during the period. The larger drop in unemployed persons led to a decrease in the Unemployment Rate of 1.9%.
