Democratic Score
In 2019, The Economist Intelligence Unit reported that the average global Democracy Index score (scored from 0-10) dropped from 5.48 to 5.44. According to this Index, South Africa was ranked 40th out of 167 countries, with a score of 7.24. This score identifies South Africa as a “Flawed Democracy”, with “Full Democracy” requiring a score above 8.00. (https://bit.ly/2W8wqLR)
