Dried up
In 2006 PlayPump International received over $30 million dollars to support its goal of providing clean drinking water to 10 million people in Africa. The PlayPump was designed to be a merry-go-round like wheel that would extract water when children played on it. However, two years later UNICEF reported that the pumps were not having the desired impact; for example in Mozambique users reported that time taken to collect water increased from 47 minutes to 114 minutes due to the heaviness of the pump and low yield.
