The United States has committed to leaving Afghanistan by 31 August 2021, leaving 5 days to evacuate any remaining foreign nationals and refugees. Following late July’s announcement of the US withdrawal, it is estimated that 64,000 people have been evacuated by US military flights, with more than 10,000 people estimated to be at Kabul airport waiting to be evacuated.
