Father Figures
According to the State of SA’s Fathers Report, released by Sonke Gender Justice and the Human Sciences Research Council, 36% of children (age 0-17) in South Africa live in the same household as their biological father and 35% of children live in the same household with a man who is not their biological father. Girls who grow up with their fathers are more likely to have higher self-esteem and maintain romantic relationships as adults. Boys who grew up in absent father households are more likely to display hypermasculine behaviour, including aggression. (http://bit.ly/2L5j6UM)
