Every year the Western Cape experiences an explosion of colour as some of the 9,600 species of plant in the province begin to flower. Almost 70% of The Cape Floral Kingdom plant species cannot be found anywhere else on Earth. This floral region (one of six in the world) covers roughly 0.5% of the continent yet contains 20% of its flora.
