Frozen in Time
Glacial Archeology studies remnants of the past that were frozen in time beneath the now melting glaciers and ice sheets. The Glacial Archeology Programme has uncovered over 100,000 specimens of ancient animal remains and human artefacts globally. Some of the findings include a 280m year-old tree fossil from the South Pole, a 39,000 year old wooly mammoth in Siberia and a set of 1,300 year-old pre-viking skis in Norway; revealing the longue durée of the earth and its inhabitants.
