President Ramaphosa’s speech on 17 June 2020 announced that restrictions would be eased on ‘accredited and licensed accommodation, with the exception of home sharing accommodation like AirBnB’. The government has yet to give details of the easing and definitions of which types of accommodation will be allowed to operate. 2019Q4 Labour Force Survey measures more than 140 000 people working in ‘Hotels, camping sites and other provision of short stay accommodation’, a group of people who must be eagerly awaiting these details to determine if they can go back to work.
