The commercial fisheries sector directly employs around 28,000 people. According to the 2023 Q1 Labour Force Survey, available through Eighty20’s Data Portal, around 76% of individuals who work in fish hatcheries and fish farms or in coastal and ocean fisheries are male and 42% of them are between the ages of 35 and 44.
