Gold Medal for new Covid cases
The worst Covid fears of the Olympic Games have materialised as Tokyo enters its 4th state of emergency in July, with 12,340 new Covid cases reported in Japan on the first day of August, the highest yet for the country – and a total of 220 Olympics-related cases. This outcome, despite minimal live audiences and only a third of the 180,000 people originally expected entering the country. People in Japan are urging the government to put “Lives over Olympics”.
