   It would be interesting to contrast this to the acreage committed to farming over the same period and determine the impact of farming consolidation.

   Chances are the value of fresh produce will rise significantly over the next 10 years or so, as food resources become locally scarce. So I’m going to buy up as much agricultural land as I can, and make a killing in 2020!

   This is not astounding,taking into account that the government rather imports cheaper 2nd rate goods from 3rd world countries & China,instead of stimulating local product.Was shown the biggest Dairy farm (close to Vereeniging),which has become dormant due to takeover (giving to less fortunate) and is now occupied by unemployed hoarders – ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING !!!

   This relates to the demise of 5000 active food producing units that would be able to cater to the needs of at least 7,500,000 people. Has anybody perhaps done any research into the reasons for this disastrous phenomena that is actively busy destroying our once great, food independent country? Or would the powers that be rather die before admitting to foolishness and pride that ultimately leads to the fall of any Nation; this like the once great Zimbabwe?

   This cannot be surprising to anyone. When bigger farms are claimed by the government and devided between people, the total production of the farms will decrease, it is more expensive and uneconomic to produce on a smaller scale! Thats basic economics and basic business!
