Treasury expects the number of grant recipients to rise to 16.6 million by 2016/17, which will cost the government R137 billion in grant expenditure.     In South Africa we have a very large unemployment rate yet we have so many jobs that are not being fulfilled due to a lack of money within so many municipal and government departments – yet the same people that are living off grants live in the areas where there is no or very little service delivery – surely a vast majority of those on social grants can be deployed in “chain gangs” and be paid to do certain jobs that will enhance service delivery and reduce the grant – or not? The point being is that those who rule the country have muck for brains can they not see how much they can buy for R137 bilion?

    16.6 Million Grants = 16.6 million votes, it’s not rocket science.
