Heritage Day
Before 1994, in the homeland of Kwazulu, the 24th of September was celebrated as “Shaka’s Day”, commemorating King Shaka Zulu. Initially the proposed Public Holidays bill of 1994 omitted this day. Later it was added as Heritage Day, giving all South Africans a day on which they could celebrate their diverse cultural heritage. (http://bit.ly/2NA73B8, http://bit.ly/2ON0oA4, http://bit.ly/2zsH5XL)
