How Santa Came to Town
St Nick, Santa Claus or Kris Kringle? No matter what you call him, his legacy can be traced back to Saint Nicholas, a 4th-century Christian Bishop known for his kindness and generosity. After his death, stories of his compassion spread across the globe and he remained an important figure in Holland for centuries. In the 1700s, Dutch immigrants brought his legacy to America, where he became commonly known as Santa Claus, which evolved from his Dutch nickname Sinter Klaas.
