   If 6,9 million is 20% of South Africa’s ADULT population, then that means there are approx 35 million adults in SA. Is this correct, I was always under the impression that the majority of SA’s population is under the age of 15?

   According to AMPS 2011B there are 34.9 million adults 15 and above. The Statistics South Africa mid-year population estimates give 34.8 million adults aged 15 and above. According to Stats SA 31% of the population is below the age of 15 (total population is 50.6 million)

      Ok clarified. Another misconception I suffer is that 18 is the legal age of adulthood. Wonder what the number of 16 and 17 year old in SA is? But, like most good statisticians, I am perhaps a little pedantic.
