Japan’s Prime Minister has recently issued a warning, saying that the country is “on the brink of not being able to maintain social functions” as a result of its falling birth rate. Japan has the 4th lowest birth rate in the world with a birth rate of 7.0 per 1,000 people, and the second highest life expectancy of 85 years.
