   Love your facts … but this one surely can’t be right? If 40 % of our population is under 40 and 37% of those are unemployed and our total population is 54MIL, then that can’t be true.. skewed sample I think

   Hi Karen,

   Thanks so much for your comment. Can you let us know where you got these figures from, they don’t match the LFS data?

   According to the LFS 2015 Q1:

   – Approximately 72% of the SA population is aged under 40
   – Approximately 44% of the SA population is aged 15 to 39
   – 19% Of those aged 15 to 39 are unemployed
   – The official unemployment rate for those aged 15 to 39 is 34%

   Today’s Fact-a-Day refers to all South African adults aged 15 and above
