   I want to know of the 15% South African households who have a telephone at home, how many are from the low income market. Are these phone common in households that own their own house or also in rented accomodation. Also interesting to note would be the amount of monies spent per month on household telephone bills.

   Are you saying that ONLY 15% of SA households have a phone at home (excl cell phones). This figure sounds low but would clear up a few misconceptions that I have.

   Simply put, fixed line service providers like Telkom and Neotel are yet to figure out a market-attractive offering and answer to combat its mobile service counterpart since its advent in the early 1990’s. Alexander Graham Bell’s invention is now seemingly commercially beleaguered by modern heroics of mobile telephony.
