The South African Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced a substantial increase in petrol price from 3 November 2021 of R1.21/litre. The petrol price has reached a record high after increasing by more than R5/litre since January 2021; an increase of approximately 35%. This increase has been driven primarily by an increase in the price of crude oil, which has risen 61% in that same period.
