   African countries’ consumption is low since the largest part of the population has no house, no power and hardly any food to eat. It is THIRD WORLD and underdeveloped. We cant compete…

   In most of these countries African countries quotes, the residents are very lucky to have more than 3 hours of power available daily and the grid is very limited. Most factories have their own generator plant to supply power the government hasn’t supplied. There economies show the results of this and doing business there requires expensive infrastructure not required by our competitors in Europe or Asia. Our factory in Cape Town; we have also installed a power plant to supplement an incompetent Eskom. The price of generating this power is nearly 5x the cost of ESKOM’s power.

   The reason, iceland is so high up in Amnon’s comparison is that the population of iceland is just over 300 thousand (i.e small). More than 2/3 of the power generated in 2007 was used to power a single aluminium smelter plant and there was more than one aluminium smelter plant at the time.

      Jabulani Raises a BIG Point.
      We have more than one Aluminium Smelter – I think about 3 or 5.
      Each consumes enough Power to Power a city like Durban (The Ethekwini Municipality).
      ALL except one signed their Long-term Leases with Eskom under a corrupt Apartheid Regime.
      ALL are foreign companies – the Last is Canadian – that ship in Carribean Bauxite Add South-African Electricity & the Ship out their Aluminium, Practically No Jobs are generated & there are practically no benefits to SA.

      We seriously should be able to trial & prosecute all these parasites who fed off the tyranny of the Apartheid regime instead of having to honour Apartheid’s contracts with these thugs.
