According to the State of South African Fathers (SOSAF) Report 2021, 61% of men reported living in the same household with at least one child, during 2020 – a 13% increase from the 2017 survey. The report revealed the extent to which fathers engaged in some of the following care activities over 3 years: 77% ate a meal with their child, 60% did homework with their child and only 57% talked to their children about a topic of interest to the child.
