Oktoberfest celebrates the culture and beer in Munich. The event attracts 6.3m tourists each year – resulting in an increase in the population density of Munich of over 400%. It’s reported that the tourism of Oktoberfest generates around R22bn for the city. Visitors drink approximately 7m litres of Munich-brewed beer, which accounts for only 6% of the total revenue.
