In 2022, South Africa’s Department of Mineral Resources and Energy signed 13 solar and wind power purchase agreements. The projects are expected to add approximately 975 MW of renewable energy to the national grid over the next 2 years (just under 50% of Cape Town’s power capacity demand), and create up to 7,700 job opportunities across the country.
