Shell Shock
Loggerhead and leatherback turtle hatchlings along the KwaZulu-Natal coastline face “stranding season” from late February to July. During this time, hatchlings often get swept out into colder waters, becoming exhausted and shocked. Only one or two out of every 1,000 hatchlings survive to adulthood in the wild.
