On Dec 1, 1955 Rosa Parks was fined $14 and arrested for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white passenger. Four days later, local leaders mobilised 90% of the black community of Montgomery, Alabama to boycott the city’s bus line. The boycott ended on Nov 13 1956, after the Supreme Court ruled that segregation was unconstitutional.
