   I don’t agree with this, I believe at least two other batsmen jointly hold this record in the 50 over format, the one being Sir Viv Richards. I also remember the record for most runs in one over in any format is closer to 42 (I speak under correction). If I remember correctly, it was a test in England where the ball was hit into an area of the field where the grass wasn’t cut well and the batsmen ran 17 runs off that ball. that single ball faciliated the strange result of more than 36 runs in an over.

   C.B.Fry scored 66 runs off one ball . The ball lodged in a tree inside the boundary, the umpire ruled “that as the ball was visible it could not be deemed lost” the fielding side went for a ladder, hence the 66 runs.

   Another 6×6 is Yuvraj Singh who also hit 6 sixes against a strong side 2 or 3 years ago.

   The batting record held by Herschelle Gibbs refers to him being the first person to hit six sixes off one over in a One Day International match.

   It is true that other batsmen have scored six sixes in an over, however these were achieved in First Class cricket matches (Garfield Sobers and Ravi Shastri) and a Twenty20 game (Yuvraj Singh).

   Several records were made in club cricket games and these are not considered in official records.

   Also, Law 20 (Lost Ball) in cricket now prevents a massive number of runs per ball where the ball cannot be found or recovered (without outside assistance). The batting side keeps any penalty that would have been declared if the delivery was not fair (for example, a no ball) plus 6 runs, or whatever they have run before the call of ‘lost ball’ was made.
