According to StatsSA more than 2,000 businesses liquidated in 2020, and another ~1,000 in the first half of 2021, due to COVID-19. The number of SMMEs in SA declined by 11% in 2020, which led to ~1.5 million jobs lost. With lockdown over and the holiday season around the corner SMMEs have a much needed chance to recover.
