Sorry, watt?
In 2015 astronomers found a supernova, which they called ASSASN-15lh. The total power of this explosion was expressed as ~2.2×10^45 ergs per second. This is 2.2×10^38 watts, making it nearly 30 times more luminous than the entire Milky Way. ASSASN-15lh expelled more energy in a single nano-second than the total electrical energy generated by all power plants on Earth operating at full capacity for 2.8 billion years.
