Tardigrades can survive extreme temperatures ranging from -200 to over 148 degrees Celsius as well as exposure to radiation, boiling liquids, and extreme pressure. In a 2008 study it was found that, when dehydrated, tardigrades can endure a 10-day journey into low-Earth orbit and return unharmed by solar ultraviolet radiation and the vacuum of space.
