In 2019 an estimated 44.9% of households had access to piped water in their dwellings with 3.1% of households still having to fetch water from the likes of river, streams, dams, wells, & springs. Although the total number of households with access to water in their dwellings increased from 4.5m to 7.7m (+71%) between 2002 and 2019, the overall percentage of households who had access to water in their dwelling only increased from 40.4% to 44.9% (+4.5%)
