Supercolony
The Argentine ant (Linepithema humile) has a supercolony on every continent except Antarctica. An Argentine colony in California spans 900km along the coast, while another in Europe is thought to span 6,000km of Mediterranean coastline. A 2010 study demonstrated that individual Argentine ants taken from different continents do not fight with one another, which indicates that they are all, in fact, part of one global supercolony.
