The Bees or Not The Bees
Many of the world’s crops and plants are pollinated by insects, with bees being the often-assumed most important pollinators. However, in recent studies, it has been discovered that non-bee insects are efficient pollinators; providing 39% of visits to crop flowers. Although the non-bees were less effective pollinators than bees per flower visit, they made more visits resulting in similar pollination services rendered by both bees and non-bees.
