Gender Based Violence (GBV) is a growing problem in South Africa. A KPMG study in 2017 indicated that GBV in South Africa costs the country between R28bn and R42bn per annum. To address this, the Department of Social Development has hired an additional 200 social workers, 120 of whom have received training on advanced trauma management.
