The Shape of Love
The iconic heart shape as a symbol of love is traditionally thought to come from the silphium plant, which was used as an ancient Greek and Roman form of birth control. In fact, the human heart is actually not ‘heart-shaped,’ and surprisingly a cow’s heart more closely resembles the heart shape we use to indicate the loveheart.
