The Vacation Scale
In Brazil and France employees are entitled to 30 days of annual leave, compared to 5 in China. In the private sector in the USA employees get on average 16 days paid leave, despite not being required by law. Economist John Schmitt found that “paid vacation and holidays don’t appear to have any meaningful impact on [a country’s] macroeconomic outcomes.”
