“Homeless”, written by Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo lead singer Joseph Shabalala, launched the band onto the world stage in their 1986 album called “Graceland”. The lyrics mixed Zulu and English and described the band ‘s feelings of being “homeless” in South Africa due to the violence and displacement caused by apartheid.
