Estonia has the longest period of paid maternity leave, at 85 weeks. In contrast, the United States is the only OECD country without nationwide, statutory, paid parental leave. Comparatively, South African law states that employees are entitled to a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks of job-protected maternity leave, but without pay.
