   The average HIV figure for South Africa is virtually 4 times higher than that for Africa. Surely this must be a clear indication that the promiscuity levels in our people are a very serious problem that needs to be dealt with, with utmost urgency. Purely physical or practical solutions to problems relating to a very serious lack of self-control in peoples lives will not succeed in changing the status quo. What our Nation needs is a very effective
   spiritual make-over: a change of mind through a change of heart, so that they are no longer under the complete control of the desires of their flesh; this meaning that, through their God empowered spirit, they will be enabled to take effective control over and make a success of their lives, – their earthly mission. This type of teaching is available to any sensible human being, and is the only sure way of being able to succeed at eradicating these problems.
   Our leaders should be encouraged to give their support to not only the physical, but far more importantly, to the spiritual welfare of our struggling people as well. This has nothing to do with religion, but everything to do with the Truth that Jesus Christ came to this world to bear living witness to; this relating to mankind’s true mission during the short but very important time he spends on this planet. I would like to hear from any concerned or interested person who sees merit in what I have been given to share thus far.

   First, I’m shocked to the bone. I’m shocked that according to this, 1,81people, virtualy 2 people, of 10 are HIV positive.

   Me being me, I’m tempted to want to shoot the messenger. I’m tempted to want to say either we are too efficient in collecting HIV data, or the rest of the world is being economic with the truth. At least I can feel a bit more comfortable. Escape. At least i can resist the temptation to board the promiscuity bandwagon. I’ve got more than ten friends, none are promiscuous. This would be me reacting from my embarrassed self.

   So there must be something either than moralising that must be the driver to this result.

   Here I tend to want to stop and think, what is my contribution to all this, in the negetive or positive (Please excuse the pun). I tend to remember those eloquently stated words “Bad things happen when good people sit back and do nothing.”

   The best that I can do is to affirm my way of life and hold it up as a possible solution towards the HIV prevention. At least the part that relates to health and particularly to the way in which HIV is acqired. I will also affirm other ways of life that bring forth an HIV eradicating tendancy. I will talk to my sons, and affirm our way of life. Persuade them to remain vigilant to ways that may endanger their primary reason for being, to live. That is on a personal basis.

   In the public arena, I will therefor support solutions that fit our common context. Support in spirit, mind and body.
