In the early hours of February 6th 2023 a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Southeast Turkey and North Syria. This was followed by a smaller 7.5 magnitude earthquake a few hours later. The death toll has passed 50,000 and continues to rise, making the earthquake the most devastating earthquake these countries have faced in almost 2 millennia.
