According to Statistics South Africa’s 2021Q4 Labour Force Survey, 51.6% of the reported 7.9 million unemployed people have less than matric as their highest level of education, with 38.6% of unemployed people having completed matric only. In contrast, the percentage of unemployed who are university graduates was significantly lower at 2.4%.
