Virtual to Reality
The gulf between traditional sport and eSports (competitive video gaming) narrowed significantly in January when it was announced that Turkish virtual racer Cem Bolukbasi would race in the physical 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship, the first virtual racer to take part in the prestigious series. Cem’s F1 eSports career experience may be a significant advantage given his 61 Grand Prix starts, 11 wins and 18 podiums, particularly when compared with the 2021 F2 Champion who has 41 Grand Prix starts, 8 wins and 17 podiums.
